About our HSS Left Hand Drills
Ideal for removing snapped bolts. Run the drill in reverse to cut at a slow and constant speed. Unlike a standard Right Hand flute (which could drive the bolt further into the hole), the rotational direction of the drill once it bites can drive the broken stud out towards the surface. This is much safer than using a screw extractor/Easy-out which has a higher possibility of breaking in the broken bolt. We recommend you initially use a ball nose carbide burr to centralise a start for the drill on the top of the broken stud before drilling. gradually increase the diameter of the drill you are using to open out the broken bolt and offer more strength to the drill's turning force where possible.
